Overview
Dr Gopakumar is a highly experienced Senior Physiotherapist in Electronic City, Bengaluru, with a career spanning over 25 years across clinical practice, sports physiotherapy, corporate wellness, and academic training. He is widely recognised for his expertise in sports and neurological rehabilitation, his passion for patient-centred care, and his commitment to advancing physiotherapy in India and internationally.
He completed his Bach_elor’s in Physiotherapy from Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai. He then strengthened his clinical expertise with a Post-Graduate Fellowship in Cardiac Rehabilitation from Apollo Hospitals Educational and Research Foundation.
Dr Gopakumar has an extensive and varied career history, having worked as a Physiotherapist with the Ministry of Health in Kuwait and as a Sports Physiotherapist for a football club in Kuwait. He has worked with professional athletes across football, badminton, cricket, and other sports, providing injury management, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement support.
Beyond his clinical work, He has conducted around 150 plus courses as an instructor.He has also delivered ergonomics workshops for several leading corporations, including KPMG, Mindtree, and Firstsource, demonstrating his commitment to health and wellness in the corporate sector.
His contributions to the field have been widely recognised, with accolades including the Indian Business Award 2016 for Best Physiotherapy in Bengaluru, the Physio Excellency Award by Physio Foundation India 2017, the Bharat Gaurav Puraskar, and the Significant Contribution Award in Physiotherapy, among others. He has published articles in physiotherapy journals and has been invited to speak at national conferences, including ICEM 2019 and the IHFA National Conference on Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation.
